Profibus connection issue

Hi I hope someone can help.

When installing new hardware onto a profibus network, for example a sensor, how can I get the information needed from the sensor to talk to PLC. I have already installed the GSD file for the sensor. We have the logic from the old sensor already installed in the PLC program but we have installed a new one onto the profibus network but I don't know how to get the information we have onto the new sensor and working on the profibus network.

If anyone needs anymore information please ask.

I'm relatively new to the world of PLC's, manufacturing and automation.
