I am currently using TIA Portal V14 and S7-1217 Plc and I am stuck as all I get from my remote IO is USint and then I need it to pack it to the INT or DINT respectively. Is there any function where I can pack my low and high byte into an INT and be done with it.
I know one of the more unconventional way is to multiply high byte by 256 and add low byte to it but what happen when i need to convert to DINT i have to multiply and add some weird number.
Can somebody save me from myself??
Hi! I'm cirrently developing a project using a S120 with CU320 controlling a 2 axis system. I have some question on how exactly the silple positioning works. I use SINA_POSE FB with telegram 111. My questions:
1. Where exactly this FB must be placed. Since cyclic communication It must be placed only on OB1.
2. To start a MDI command a position, velocity, acceleration and deceleration are sent to the drive. Than the execute command start the job. The execute command can follow the position and other parameters or it need to wait some cofermation bit coming from the drive that it has received the parameters correctly? Do you wait for some time?
3. Wich is the best practice to evaluate that the position requested is effectively reached. The FB has a InPosition BIT that goes off during travel and back on at the and... is this BIT the only one thing to watch?
4. How much time the drive needs to wait before acceping another MDI?

I already have some experience with Ladder language and PLCSIM so now I need a real PLC to do more practice.
I was going to buy the following unit:

It has 6 Di, 4 DO (Relay) and 2 AI, that's more than enough for me to do some practice.
Do you think it would be a good idea to buy it? Or maybe this PLC doesn't have some important component or device needed to work properly? (my company will give me the software).

We r using Siemens PLC S7 400 in small power plant. Sometimes this PLC flickers and plant stops for milliseconds and regains its position. All Digital outputs turns off and then regains its original postion. Can anybody have solution for this....???

Does anyone know if there is a method to set limits on a numeric entry when using a Simatic HMI? Doesn't seem to be any properties regarding this on the button. Additionally, is there any way to remove the Hexadecimal buttons on the popup keyboard? None of customers actually use hex.....in fact....in 35+ years no one has ever requested to enter or display hex numbers.

I need one help i have one application where 1st time any input comming then one output should be SET.
and when 2nd time same input will come this output should be RESET.
We only have a license for TIA Portal Version 14 and we just got a small project that is an existing machine with a Simatic S7-300 CPU 314 which is Version 11. Is it possible for me to upgrade this to version 14? If so, how?

I am writing a S7 program that contains a couple of SR flip flops. When I try simulating by saving, downloading, monitoring and putting
into RUN-P mode even before I turn on any input, the flip flop looks active.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?

I'm having an issue that when I start the install for TIA Portal Version 11 I get a message that says, "You must restart your computer before you can run setup. Do you want to reboot your computer now?"
I've said yes, it will reboot and the same message will come up again automatically. I've tried rebooting several times and nothing. I've said no to the reboot and it says, "You cannot continue without rebooting. Please reboot the computer yourself."
Any thoughts on this?

i am electrical engineer working in steel company. we have bought one new machine which having Siemens s7 300 PLC. there are two encoders in machine. one is used for measuring length of rod whereas other one is used for cutter home position. we got some problem related to encoder. i have checked on HMI screen that during first cut, cutter encoder missed counts. its 2048 ppr incremental encoder. so please can anybody help me to sort it out this problem.
i have changed the encoder but still the problem is same.
