HMI I/O Tag addressing

Hi all,

I am sure this has been done many times but I am relatively new to Siemens so please bear with me.

 

I am using Simatic manager Step 7 for the plc programming and TIA portal 13 sp1 for the HMI (TP1200 Comfort panel), this communicates via Profinet network, we have 96 physical inputs and 64 physical outputs on the PLC.

 

What I would like to do is add maintenance pages to the HMI to give a graphical representation of the plc inputs and outputs, most of the inputs are assigned to various DB’s but not all and the outputs are the same.

 

So page 1 would be input card 1 would be I0.0, I0.1, I0.2, I0.3, I0.4, I0.5, I0.6, I0.7 and then I1.0, I1.1 etc, etc, for every input and output on the PLC.

 

My question is, do I add all the physical Tags individually into the HMI as (Tag 1 - Input I0.0 = I0.0) or would I be best using the DB addressing where possible (DB1020.DBX0.0). is there a preference or best practice to use Physical or DB addressing, would one be more reliable, use less resources, quicker over the network? As i will have over 200 tags will this slow things down or cause problems?

 

So for the representation of the I/O i am using a rectangle, in Display / Appearance and setting this to change colour as the tag changes state, all basic stuff

 

I have done one screen and it works on both DB and physical, but as I am new to Siemens i am not sure what is the preferred technique to use before i do the rest of the screens 


Slave Relays

I am going to install a Siemens PLC on a project. It has relay outputs and I am in 2 minds whether I should slave the outputs through relays before driving contactors like ABB's A-lines or just directly connect. I've heard if the output from the PLC is going to a "high load" device like a motor operated valve or a motor starter I should always use a interposing relay no matter what kind of output I have on the PLC. Little things like pilot lights and outputs for permissive to other devices (voltage sense inputs) it would be OK wiring direct. Is that accurate?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

IM308c gives me an error "Incorrect Mode"

I am currently trying to set up an IM308c Profibus DP Module to use with an S5-135U system using two 928B processors in Multiprocessing mode. Module will only be accessed by one CPU and the slave is an ET200M (IM153-1). I am testing it along with the Standard Function block  FB192. When I execute to write outputs(WO) I get an error. The error is a value of 4 and in the ET200M Manual states "Incorrect Mode" (page 7-15) The remedy is switch the master to run. It is already in run with a green run light on. Does this card require synchronization like Sinec L2?  PLC does not see it in run apparently and I have no other info.

Hello everyone,

 

     I'm checking out the manual fot the S5 ET 100U due to some power supply problems in the factory I work. I've worked in projects with S7 PLCs and ET 200s, but these old PLCs and modules are still operative  in the factory. I'm attaching a picture with an excerpt of the manual. What do they mean by floating and nonfloating modules, exactly?

Connecting to Sinamics G120 by Starter/Scout via CPU S300 gateway

Hello. I have CPU S319-3 PN/DP which connected with Sinamics G120 by profibus. I have connect with cpu by ethernet. I made setting as explained in help, but it doesn't work. I use Simotion Scout 4.4.0.2, Version of sinamics drive 4.6. Scout can found CPU in accsessble nodes cpu ip is 192.168.3.6. I also trying change slot 0,1,2, but it bring zero result.

What additional setting need to do?

S7 300 to Ignition

Hi All,

This is my first project with Ignition so please bear with me. I'm setting up a system in which I'll be communicating a Siemens CPU 315 (CPU 1) with the existing CPU 314 (CPU 2) via MPI. The CPU 315 will be connected to the SCADA PC via Ethernet. I'll be using the tags from both of the CPU's. (see below picture for details)

My question is, will Ignition be able to see the tags in "CPU 2" even if it is not directly connected to the PC? If not, should I create a messaging program to transfer tag values to "CPU 1"?

Tisoft analog alarm programming

I'm programming an analog alarm and I think there are 2 ways to do this.  I can use the CMP block and turn a relay on if the value goes LT or GT a setpoint or I can acually configure an alarm using the 128 alarms available within Tisoft.  I know that the analog alarm programming allows for deadband, multiple alarms, deviation alarms, etc but if all I want to do is notify the HMI that an alarm has occured, why can't I just do that with the coil from the CMP block?  Just wondering if it is possible.  Thanks!

Hello All,

 

   I am wondering if anyone has seen this error before?

The SIMATIC USB Service service failed to start due to the following error: 
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I do not have any Siemens software on my PC, so it is baffling me. My guess it did have software at some point, and was uninstalled.

Hi i am currently working on a PU foaming machine actually Machine have itself one 4Meter conveyor and speed of that conveyor autamatic adjusting depending on Density of foam.

after machine i have 3 conveyor where finish product will transfer so i need that speed of machine Conveyor and that Extra 3 conveyor should be same so how this is possible.

(Actually i need Feed back from  machine conveyor VFD to  other Conveyor VFD)

Siemens S7-1500 profibus communication with rotork actuator

I am trying to set up a Profibus DP connection with a Rotork actuator that controls a valve. Since i dont have a plc or an actuator, I have to try to do everything in the simulator.

I have imported the GSD file from Rotork, and have connection through the profibus network, but i cant for the life of me understand what to do next.

I do not understand what tags or function blocks to use. I'm used to Mitsubishi plc where you get an address to the profibus buffer and use that in the ladder program.

How do i receive and send data to a specific address on the actuator?

Hi!

If you have any idea, please share and bear with me.

I have upcoming project and my client project specs is that they need visual representation of the instruments(which are all analog Flow,Level,Power meter ) to be represent in the SCADA using WinCC v7.4. I'm not that familiar with the new WinCC(handled WinCC v7 before but most of the time I'm using wonderware).

Now my concern is that how to implement a Daily, Monthly, Yearly reporting/totalizer/volume in the SCADA for a particular devices? Is it to be done in the PLC side(Programming) or in the SCADA?

Siemens S5 Backup Battery

Hello All,

 

I have been tasked with sourcing some spare parts for a cabinet housing Siemens S5 PLC's. I have managed to source all of the CPU's, output cards, input cards, EPROM etc, I am currently trying to find a back up battery for the CPU. CPU part number is 6ES5 100-8MA02. According to the labeling on the CPU I require a 3.4v 850mAh battery. I think the part number for the battery is 6ES5 980-0MA11. This is proving difficult to source. Does anyone know where I can find one, or can I use an alternative, i.e a 3.6v?

First fault detection

I have 14 bits, each is set when a particular fault occurs, the problem is once 1 fault occurs and the machine stops it then causes more "red herring" faults.

I need to detect which fault happened first and report this as the reason the machine stopped.

I can do it the long way:-

A M100.0

AN M100.1

AN M100.2

etc...

but this would result in 14 very similar networks, and what if my fault list grows to say 100?

Is there a quicker/more efficient way of detecting which bit was set first?

Hi guys,

currently working on the communication with videojet 1620 printer (Continuous Inkjet Marking), in there operators manual (http://www.videojet.com/content/dam/Countries/North%20America/Operator-Manuals/CIJ/1620-Operator-Manual.pdf)  the say :

- How to Configure Ethernet Port
Refer to WSI/ESI Communications Protocol addendum for more
information.

But cant find this addendum anywhere in the web, all i did found is this pdf attached "Videojet 1510 and 1210 Simple Communications Protocol".

I'have try it with th eprinter using the Ethernet port and all i can find open is the FTP(21), 3000, 3001 and VNC(5900). An d i have send same packets from the WSI/ESI to the print via 3000 and 3001 with Packet Sender but the response was empty!!

is there any one that know this protocol ESI/WSI or did work with this printer or simillar ?

Limiting on-line connections to a S7-1500 PLC

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to limit the number of allowed on-line connections at a time to a PLC?

Like can you somehow set in the PLC parameters that only 1 'connection' can be on-line in the device at a time?

Edit: I'm referring to connections from the TIA portal - not HMI / ethernet connections and so forth
